Samsung Unveils AI-Powered Foldables, Smartwatches and Intelligent Eyewear in Thailand
The foldable‑phone family now includes the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold8, and the Galaxy Z Flip8. All three models run Samsung’s Galaxy AI platform, which is designed to simplify routine tasks such as drafting emails, editing photos, translating signs, and delivering instant information while the device is closed.
The flagship, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, sports an 8‑inch main display, a 4.1‑mm thickness when folded, a weight of 215 g, a 200‑megapixel main camera, and a 5 000‑mAh battery. Samsung markets it as a tablet‑sized phone that offers high‑resolution photography.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 is lighter than its predecessor, tipping the scales at 201 g—14 g lighter than the 2025 Z Fold7. It features a 10:16 cover screen for quick tasks and a 4:3 main display for activities such as video playback, gaming, and multitasking.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 is the smallest model, weighing 180 g and measuring 6.1 mm thick when folded. It includes a 50‑megapixel camera that uses Samsung’s ProVisual Engine for clearer selfies and background effects, and a FlexWindow that displays AI‑generated updates on the cover screen.
Samsung’s smartwatch line now offers the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and the Galaxy Watch9, both powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite processor. The Ultra2 targets active users with a 5 000‑nit display, an 800‑mAh battery, and a 10‑ATM water rating, allowing real‑time tracking of water temperature and depth for swimming and diving. The Watch9 focuses on everyday use, featuring a 3 000‑nit display, a 390‑mAh battery, and health‑tracking functions.
Health features on the watches include Sleep Apnea detection, which uses AI to analyze breathing patterns during sleep; Daily Cardio Load, which estimates recovery needs and suggests training volume; and a Heart Health Score that provides personalized lifestyle recommendations linked to cardiovascular wellness.
The most novel addition is Samsung’s intelligent eyewear, developed in partnership with Google, Gentle Monster, and Warby Parker. The glasses run on the Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 platform, can operate for up to nine hours on a single charge, and incorporate Google’s Gemini assistant for hands‑free interaction. Functions include live translation, visual context capture via an onboard camera, meeting summarisation, navigation assistance, and the ability to share a live view with contacts.
Samsung said the eyewear is designed to provide on‑the‑go assistance without the need to look at a phone screen, a feature that could help expats navigate Bangkok’s streets or travelers needing real‑time translation.
Pre‑orders for the Galaxy Z series in Thailand run from 22 July to 13 August 2026, with retail availability beginning on 14 August. The Galaxy Watch line follows the same pre‑order window, with general availability starting on 7 August. Pricing in Thai baht is as follows: Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra – 69,900 baht; Galaxy Z Fold8 – 61,900 baht; Galaxy Z Flip8 – 42,900 baht; Galaxy Watch Ultra2 (LTE, 47 mm) – 25,900 baht; Galaxy Watch9 (Bluetooth, 40 mm) – 12,900 baht.
The launch demonstrates Samsung’s strategy to turn its Galaxy ecosystem into a set of integrated daily helpers rather than isolated gadgets. By combining AI‑enhanced foldable phones, health‑focused smartwatches, and context‑aware eyewear, the company aims to address tasks ranging from work and entertainment to navigation and health monitoring.
The devices will be available exclusively in Thailand for the initial rollout, with potential expansion to other markets pending further announcements. Samsung has not yet disclosed sales targets or broader distribution plans beyond the Thai launch.
